Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is bottled at 107 proof, remarkably close to barrel strength. After aging for a full decade, only a small amount of Kentucky limestone water is added before bottling.

The aroma opens with sweet vanilla, caramel, pecan, and seasoned oak. Its rich yet smooth palate offers robust wheat, cherries, and mature wood, followed by a long, smoky finish with lingering fruit, spice, and oak tannins.

Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve 23 Year is an extraordinarily rare, limited-edition Kentucky straight bourbon. Each barrel matures for 23 years before being carefully selected from the heart of the aging warehouse.

Initial aromas of caramel and cream are joined by soft oak, nuts, and leather. The palate is sweet and complex, with vanilla, maple, honey, citrus, and spice. A long-lasting oak finish carries many of the bourbon’s earlier flavors. This exceptional whiskey is best enjoyed neat to fully appreciate its depth and maturity.

The Van Winkle Family Legacy

Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle began his career with W.L. Weller & Sons as a traveling whiskey salesman before becoming president of the legendary Stitzel-Weller Distillery. His dedication to fine wheated bourbon helped shape the American whiskey industry during and after Prohibition.

His son, Julian Van Winkle Jr., continued the family business and created the Old Rip Van Winkle label. Julian Van Winkle III assumed leadership in 1981, preserving the family’s standards during a period when premium bourbon received far less attention than it does today.

Since 2002, Van Winkle whiskey has been produced in partnership with Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky. This relationship allows the family to continue its tradition of carefully crafted wheated bourbon while developing whiskey stocks for future generations.
