Paloma Recipe

Paloma Recipe

The classic Paloma cocktail combines tequila and grapefruit to create a tangy and refreshing drink. It's a cousin to the margarita that uses grapefruit instead of lime. This drink is constructed in the glass, meaning you don't need any fancy bar tools to create this drink; just a tall glass and a spoon! The Paloma is traditionally made with grapefruit soda, but you can use freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and soda water if you can't find grapefruit soda. While it isn't necessary to rim the glass with salt, we recommend it as the salt adds a savory quality that blends with the tart grapefruit and earthy tequila. For an extra kick, you can substitute the salt with Tajín instead!

Ingredients You'll Need

  • 2 oz. tequila
  • 2 oz. of fresh grapefruit juice
  • 2 oz. soda water
  • 0.5 oz. lime juice
  • 1/4 oz. simple syrup
  • Kosher salt
  • Ice cubes

Directions

  • Pour the salt into a plate or wide bowl
  • Rub a grapefruit wedge around the rim of a highball glass, and dip the rim in the salt
  • Mix tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and simple syrup into the glass
  • Top off the glass with soda water and ice and stir gently
  • Garnish with grapefruit or lime wedge
